Irritable bowel syndrome is related to gastrointestinal function change. The clinical symptoms includes chronic or recurrent abdominal pain, abdominal distension, frequency of defecation changed and abnormal stool, mucous stool, and defective stool ete, but without abnormal structure of gastrointestinal tract or biochemistry. It usually exists with the other function disease of gastrointestinal, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease and functional dyspepsia.ObjectiveDiscuss the rationale about the method of matching acupoint of shu and mu combine the traditional Chinese medicine in treating irritable bowel syndrome of diarrhea type; and observe the clinical effects and influence of quality of life on IBS of diarrhea type by this method.MethodSelecting60patients with IBS of diarrhea type meet the inclusion criteria and then randomly devided them into test group (30cases) and control group (30cases). Matching acupoint of shu and mu combine the traditional Chinese medicine shen ling bai zhu san treating the test group. Use electro-acupuncture therapy, and connect with dilatational wave for30minutes.Only use the traditional Chinese medicine shen ling bai zhu san treating the test group. The treatment was taken four weeks. Observe the clinical effects and the function of quality of life about the two methods treating IBS of diarrhea type before and after treatment.Result1. Before the treatment, the test group and control group in general and SF-36scale were no significant differences(P>0.05) 2. After the treatment clinical symptoms scores improved in each group, it points out that the two methods are effective, and there was a significant difference in scores of abdominal pain, abdominal distension, frequency of defecation changed and defective stool between the two groups(P<0.05), but no significant difference in scores of abnormal stool and mucous stool between the two groups(P>0.05). The effective rate for rest group was96.67%and73.33%for control group, test group was higher than control group in cure rate. There was a significant difference in effective rate between the two groups (P<0.05).3. After the treatment quality of life measured with a SF-36scale was higher than before the treatment in each group (p<0.05),and there was a significant difference in integral between the two groups (P<0.05). It points out the test group was more effective than control group in the quality of life.Conc l us i onUse the method of matching acupoint of shu and mu combine the traditional Chinese medicine in treating irritable bowel syndrome of diarrhea type, can improve the clinical symptoms and the quality of life. There was a favourable clinical effects, be superior to only traditional Chinese medicine.
