Objective: To evaluate the diagnosis value of MRI in carpal tunnelsyndromeMethods: From Janunay2010to December2011patients were5malesand14females of the images were mainly in transaxial planes at The ThirdClinnical Medical College of Jilin University.19cases of carpal tunnelsyndrome with MRI were analyyzed,aged18-53years,average36years.Right15cases and left4cases,about1month to1yaer. The operationswere amputation of transverse carpal ligaments. To be compared with thedifference of MRI and findings of surgery. Results: MRI findings to carpal sydrome incluing:1When themedican nerve of the carpal tunnel turn to flat, median nerve flattening ratioswere verage3.93.2Differernt levels to high signal changels ofmedian nerve of T2wl may be observed.3The median nerve is goingto thickening and swelling, which may be obverved in T2WI、T1WIwhen entered in the carpal tunnel, the medinan nerve swelling ratio (MNSR)was1.35-3.24,verage2.62. In all cases MRI various score correlate with eachother. The synovitis score difference between early RA and RA patients whosecourse greater than or equal to one year have statistical significance.Thedifference of SJbetween patient with and without bone erosion have statisticalsignificance. Conclusion: MRI may distinguish the conient to carpal tunnel well, show clearly the anatomy for the carpal tunnel.MRI provides very soft tissuecontrasts, that is too sensitive of the signal changing. The median nervecompression may be found by MRI. The circurnstances surrounding of the bones structuer may be observed, that finding the cause to carpal tunnelsydrome. MRI to a clear diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome that aused bythe wrist factors. The MRI of scoring system has good value for evaluateseverity and clinical activity of hands and wrists rheumatoid arthritis.
