Objective To investigates the expression of S100A8protein in transitionalcell carcinoma of bladder (BTCC) and analyze its clinical significance. Methods The expression of S100A8protein in68cases of BTCC and10cases of adjacent normal bladder tissues was detected by immunohistochemicalstaining and its correlations to clinic pathologic features was then analyzed. Results Expression of S100A8protein was higher in BTCC than in adjacentnormal bladder tissues (55.9%versus0%, P<0.01). S100A8protein expressionrates were78.9%and46.9%in pT2-pT4BTCC and pTa-pT1BTCC(P<0.05),while29.2%and70.5%in PUNLMP plus low-grade BTCC and high-gradeBTCC(P<0.01),respectively.There was no difference between recurrence andnon-recurrence (72.7%versus47.8%, P>0.05).Conclusion The expression of S100A8protein was higher in BTCC than inthe adjacent normal tissues, which was associated with pathologic grade andstage of BTCC. The expression level of S100A8protein was getting higherwith the increase of tumor pathology grade and stage. We might speculate thatS100A8protein was correlated with the currency and progression of BTCC.The detection of the expression of S100A8protein is in favor of prognosticevaluation of bladder cancer....
