Objective To discuss the clinical and prognostic significance of CCND1 and MDM2 proteinexpressions in breast cancer. Methods The CCND1 and MDM2 proteins in 59 breast tumor tissues and 19 normal breasttissues were detected by immunohistochemistry. The relationship between the expressions ofCCND1 and MDM2 and clinicpathological features of breast cancer were analyzed. Results In the tissues of breast cancer and normal breast, the positive expression rate ofCCND1 protein was 56.9% (33/58) and 15.8% (3/19), respectively; the correspond ing data ofMDM2 was 81.0% (47/58) and 21.1% (4/19), respectively. To CCND1 and MDM2 expressions, there was a statistically significant difference between the group of breast cancer and normalcase (P<0.05). In breast cancer tissues, the positive expressio n rates of CCND1 and MDM2proteins were correlated with metastasis of axillary lymph nodes (P<0.05). There was a positivecorrelation between the expressions of CCND1 and 5-year-life in N- breast cancer tissues, between the expression of MDM2 and 5-year-life in N- breast cancer tissues. Furthermore, therewas a positive correlation between the expression of CCND1 and MDM2 (χ2=17.918, P<0.05,Kappa=0.472).Conclusion The CCND1 and MDM2 proteins may involve in genesis, development andmetastasis of breast cancer. They might have a useful clinical and prognostic significance inbreast cancer.
