ObjectiveTo analyze the reason of glossopharyngeal neuralgia, clinical features, differential diagnosis,treatment, and to put torward its preoperative valuation opetative key points.and prevention of postoperation complication.MethodsFrom September2007to April2011,17patients with glossopharyngeal neuralgia have been admitted to our department. All the patients received surgical management through trans-cervical jugular foramen approach.ReasultsAll the cases were followed up for1-5years,the symptoms of glosspharyngeal neuralgia disappeared thoroughly in17cases.Of all17patients,the symptoms of glosspharyngeal neuralgia disappeared immediately after operation in15cases,pain disappeared completely in two weeks in1case,and in three months in1case. one of17cases appeared mild hoarseness;slight facial paralysis in1case,but gradually relieved in2weeks after operation;3cases felt not well in pharynx.cerebrospinal leak occurred in3cases.ConclusionAccording to the thorough and careful preoperative evaluation and the specific condition of patients, good command of anatomical structure of neck and careful surgical skills during the operation can substantially reduce the lesion of nerve and vascular in surgery region, in addition, relieve the occurrence postoperation complication and achieve the satisfied effectiveness.
