Clinical Analysis Of Etiology In Refractory Glaucoma

Objective:To investigate the etiology of refractory glaucoma and provide help for clinical prevention and treatmentMethods:Retrospective analysis a total of140cases151eyes diagnosed with refractory glaucoma, who had received treatment from June,2006to June,2011at the Department of Ophthalmology, the First Affiliated Hospital, Guangxi Medical University.Results:The cause of refractory glaucoma was as follows neovascular glaucoma was in38cases39eyes (25.83%); acute angle-closure glaucoma in31cases32eyes (21.19%);chronic angle-closure glaucoma20cases21eyes (13.91%); traumatic glaucoma16cases16eyes (10.60%); uncontrolled glaucoma with the ever filtering surgery11cases12eyes (7.95%); primary open angle glaucoma7cases9eyes (5.96%); developmental glaucoma5cases5eyes (3.31%); uveal inflammatory glaucoma6cases6eyes (3.97%); corticosteroid-induced glaucoma2cases4eyes (2.65%); crystalline lens-induced glaucoma3cases3eyes (1.99%); glaucoma after silicone oil injection2cases2eyes1.35%; aphakic glaucoma2cases2eyes (1.35%)Conclusion:There are complex etiologies in refractory glaucoma. And in this study, the top three were neovascular glaucoma,acute angle-closure glaucoma and chronic angle-closure glaucoma.Prevention and rational treatment of the primary diseases of refractory glaucoma are the critical factors to save the patients’visual acuity.
