Objective:To study the status quo of the outpatient prescription indicators using the drug use indicators(DUI)made by World Health Organization(WHO).Method:The respective hospital record based study was carried out over a one year period odd March1st2010to February28th2011.A total number of254166patients attended the outpatient comprehensive pharmacy during the study.In systematic random sampling,first a number within the sampling interval is chosen using random number tables.We chose a random number between1and30.Then every30th patient following the first number chosen was selected.The total number of the prescription we studied is6009.The number of emergency prescriptions(108)and pediatric prescriptions(1747)and narcotic and spirit prescriptions(421)were not included.Patients who didn’t get medicine were not included.2000cases of spot-checks patient were studied.We analyzed these prescriptions by DUI.Result:We analyzed the records using some of DUI and got the result.The average number of drugs per encounter is2.18,the percentage of drugs prescribed by generic name is99.98%,the percentage of encounters with an injection prescribed is13.93%,the percentage of encounters with an antibiotic prescribed is12.50%and the average costs of per encounter is238.20Yuan.The average consultation time is6.33±4.91minutes,the average dispensing time is58.32±13.01seconds and the percentage of drugs adequately labeled is99.00%.Conclusion:The survey results show that the research of rational drug use indicators in this hospital has certain scientific and effective.Most of the indicators about outpatient prescriptions are rational,but the average charge of per encounter and the average number of drugs per encounter is high.We also should spend more energy on our patients.
