Objective Anticholinergic drugs is often to be used as preventive drugs on postoperative nausea and vometing (PONV). The purpose of present study is to investigate the preventive effect and side effects of penehyclidine hydrochloride on postoperative nausea and vometing in hysterectomy after combined spina-epidural anesthesia. Methods One hundred and twenty patients (ASA physical status Ⅰor Ⅱ) scheduled for selective hysterectomy under combined spina-epidural anesthesia were randomly divided into3groups with40cases each:group W, group T and group C in this study. These patients received drugs of0.75%ropivacaine1.9ml and50%GSO.1ml after successful combined spina-epidural anesthesia at the L2-3interspace. All patients received no other drugs but butonphanol during the anesthesia. At the end of surgery, group W was given penehyclidine hydrochloride0.5mg, group T tropisetron5mg and group C normal saline5ml by intravenous injection. The score of PONV and thirst at6,12,24h, sedation score(Ramsay) and incidence of other side effects (such as dizziness, urinary retention, diplopia and delirium) after operation were recorded. Results During the time from the6th hours to24th after operation. PONV score in Group W and Group T was lower than that in Group C (P<0.05):During the time from the0hours to6th after operation, thirst score in Group W was higher than that in Group C and Group T(P<0.05):sedation score(Ramsay) in Group W was higher than that in Group C and Group T(P<0.05); However, there were no differences in each groups with incidence of dizziness. urinary retention, dysphoria and diplopia (P>0.05).Conclusion0.5mg of penehyclidine hydrochloride is effective drugs to prevent the postoperative nausea and vometing after combined spina-epidural anesthesia in hysterectomy, and penehyclidine hydrochloride is associated with more moderate effect of sedation on PONV.
