Objective:To review clinical research of iridocorneal endothelial syndrome,observe and analyze the morphological changes of corneal endothelial cells in cornealconfocal microscope, which provide the objective basis to the diagnosis and treatmentof iridocorneal endothelial syndrome.Methods:1、Through databases such as MEDLINE, PubMed, VIP, obtain thedomestic and foreign relevant documents, review iridocorneal endothelial syndromeclinical researches.2、Choose21iridocorneal endothelial syndrome patients who werediagnosised in the Shenzhen eye hospital from March2008to March2012,21sickeyes were the research group, the contralateral21eyes were control group, the othercontrol group is constituted by random choosed21eyes which had normal intraocularpressures and had no eye disease, all the patients had their both eyes examined withthe corneal confocal microscope.Observed the morphological changes of cornealendothelial cell, analysed the corneal endothelial cell size and shape, compared theresearch group with the two control group.Calculated the corneal endothelial cell area,the corneal endothelial cell density and the central corneal thickness, in the last theANOVA was done to assess the differences.Results:1.Iridocorneal endothelial syndrome has various manifestations, thecause is still controversial, mainly treatment corneal opacity and secondary glaucomatwo major complications, the effect often poor,so early diagnosis is the key.2.Iridocorneal endothelial syndrome has characteristic changes of corneal endothelialcells, performance for a significant reduction in normal hexagonal structure cells andthe cell number, cell area become larger.The difference of endothelial cell densitybetween the sick eye, the contralateral eye and the normal eye was statisticallysignificant (P <0.05), The difference of endothelial cell density between the sick eyeand the contralateral eye, the sick eye and the normal eye was statistically significant(P <0.05),The difference of the central corneal thickness between the sick eye,thecontralateral eye and the normal eye eyes was not statistically significant (P>0.05).Conclusions:Confocal microscopy have an important clinical role in the diagnosis of iridocorneal endothelial syndrome,there are morphological cornealendothelial cell changes which are observed by the confocal microscope iniridocorneal endothelial syndrome.
