Objective:To provide evidence for a preliminary assessment of postoperative results andcomplications of patients with BPH and OAB by analysing the indicators before TURPsurgery including detrusor contraction, maximum flow rate, residual urine volume, international prostate symptom score and other indicators of change with statistical methods.Methods:127cases diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia and overactivitybladder who undewent transurethral resection of the prostate in the urology department ofaffiliated Hospital of Hebei University during October2010to May2011were randomlyselected. Determining patients to comply with the selection and exclusion criteria by routinepreoperative urodynamic studies, I-PSS score and other tests. The patients’ age range from49to82years old(average61.35±11.27).Residual urine, maximum flow rate, I-PSS score, andother indicators of detrusor contractility were statistically analysed. All patients according tospecific requirements can be repeatedly selected. Results:There was no significant correlation between patient age, blood sugar, prostatevolume, a merger of preoperative urinary tract infection, urinary retention and prognosis (P>0.05). The residual urine volume, preoperative I-PSS score, maximum urinary flow rate anddetrusor instability are important prognostic factors (P <0.05). Maximum urinary flow rate, residual urine volume, preoperative I-PSS score and detrusor stability are impact factors usingLogistic regression analysis after single factor analysed statistically significant. The bloodglucose and prostate volume are unable to enter the regression model. Conclusions:Residual urine, maximum flow rate, I-PSS score and detrusor contractioncould be used as simple but important indicators to predict the value and reduce the blindnessand complications of TURP surgery in patients with BPH and OAB.
