【Objective】 To study the expression characteristics of Notch1,3,4in colorectal cancer and their relationship with CEA, AFP,CA199, as to explore the significance of tumor biology【Methods】(1)Adopt immunohistochemical staining methodologyto detect the expression of Notch1,3,4with57colorectal cancercases and there adjacent tissues, using7-grade score, i.e.0,2,3,4,5,6,7(2) detect serum level of CEA, AFP and CA199of theselected cases before operation (3) Statistical analysis: All datawere analyzed by SPSS13.0software, inspection level α=0.05.【Results】 The of expression Notch1in colorectal cancer wasincreased (P=0.042), and a tendency for increased expressionwas observed when going from well to poorly differentiated, while atendency for increased expression was also observed with theincrease of TNM classification; but the expression were notdifferent because of deference in gender, age, tumor location,tumor size, T stage, N stage, M stage. The expression of Notch3incolorectal cancer is decreased (P=0.002), but there’s nodifference in expression due to gender, age, tumor location, tumor size, degree of differentiation, T staging, N stage, M stage, TNMstage of the different groups. There’s no Notch4expressiondifference in colorectal tumor tissue and adjacent normal tissue; butNotch4expression in cancer tissues may be associated with tumorsize (p=0.014), And Notch4were not differentially expresseddue to gender, age, tumor location, degree of differentiation, T-stage, N stage, M stage, TNM staging of the different groups.There’s no correlated expression between Notch1,3,4and serumCEA, AFP, CA199(P>0.05); the expression of CEA in the serum ofcolorectal cancer patients was increased with the increase of Nstage; the expression of serum CEA and CA199may haveSpearman rank correlation.【Conclusion】Biological behaviors of different Notch in colorectalcancer varies, increased expression of Notch1may promote tumorgrowth; it may play a role in tumor differentiation and TNMclassification; decreased expression of Notch3, may inhibit tumorgrowth. CEA’s high expression may be related to tumor lymphaticmetastasis. The expression of CEA and CA199may be haveSpearman rank correlation, but there is no sufficient evidence toprove a causal relationship between the two variables in biology.
