| Effect of hot air drying on vigor and physiological and biochemical indexes of maize seed wascarried out systematically. This research selected liaoning leading cultivar Liaodan565, which producedlower initial moisture content (17.05%), general initial moisture content (21.94%), higher initialmoisture content (27.08%), high initial moisture content (32.11%), that disposed by6hot air dryingtreatments from35℃to60℃, analysis the variation of vigor and physiological and biochemical indexes,for the purpose of confirming the most suitable drying temperature of different initial moisture contentof maize seed, for probing into the effect of different drying treatments on vigor and physiological andbiochemical indexes of maize, that could provide guidance for the future of the maize seed dry work.Vigor index of seed was really decreased during drying process by analysis of effect differentdrying temperature treatments on it. The difference of germination percentage, germination index andvigor index between sample, which was disposed by35℃-40℃treatments, and ck was little, seedgermination characteristics was better, in the meantime. The variation of vigor index of different initialmoisture content seed was successively reached significant level at higher drying condition. Effect ofhot air drying on seed vigor of maize was true reliably reflected by germination percentage, germinationindex and vigor index, so that initial moisture content of this research was determined. Initial moisturecontent of Liaodan565was17.05%,21.94%,27.08%and32.11%, corresponding to the most suitabledrying temperature range was38.76℃-39.93℃,41.23℃-41.79℃,39.52℃-39.62℃and38.40℃-39.06℃, respectively.Peroxide and free radicals plays a very important role on the integrity of the cell membrane. Forthis reason, seed internal peroxide and free radical removal system, which considered catalase,peroxidase and superoxide dismutase (SOD), etc REDOX enzyme as the main body showed veryimportant. The variation rules of physiological and biochemical indexes were analyzed by differenttemperature drying condition, the result showed conductivity and MDA content of maize generallyexpressed fluctuation rise trend with the aggravation of the high temperature drying stress, on thecontrary, the activity of peroxidase hydrogen peroxide enzyme activity and superoxide dismutase (SOD)of maize generally expressed decrease trend. Correlation analysis showed that the activity of peroxidase,hydrogen peroxide enzyme, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and germination percentage, germinationindex, vigor index of seed vigor index showed a very significant positive correlation, however, theactivity of REDOX enzyme, which mentioned above, and relative conductivity, content of MDAshowed a very significant negative correlation, that meaned the reduction of REDOX enzyme activityand relative conductivity of external seepage, and the content of MDA of maize seed mutual intocausality, the increasing toxic substances was not clear, then continue to destroyed the integrity of thecell membrane structure, aggravated cell endoplasm membrane peroxidation, and finally reduced thevigor activity of maize seed. |
