Livestock and poultry need not only a lot of protein, vitamin and water, energy feed, but also a certain amount of mineral elements in the growth process. As is known that livestock need16kinds of mineral elements in the growth process, including calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, sulfur, magnesium, chlorine, iron, copper, manganese, zinc, cobalt, iodine, selenium, fluorine, molybdenum, etc. When the trace mineral elements were too much or insufficient, the growth and breeding of animal organism can be influenced, even can cause animal diseases. Thus adding some adequate mineral elements is an important measure to guarantee the healthy growth of animals, reduce the cost and improve the economic benefit. At present, proper measures are taken to supplement trace elements reasonably and scientifically in all the professional farms of China, such as feeding with trace elements additives or feed premix mixing, drinking through solution or milk, etc. But the most important defect of these methods is that absorption of the trace mineral elements must be through the digestive tract, which was seriously effected by the PH of the digest fluid and the function of the digestive tract state. Therefore it is particularly important to explore a new way of trace element supplement. The multi-trace-element injection for livestock and poultry can supply the shots of trace elements by intramuscular injection. The advantage of the new product is trace mineral elements can be absorbed directly by muscle capillary and do not pass through the digestive tract, which can effectively reduce the effect of various defense factor in the digestive tract on mineral elements. So the injection which can balance many kinds of trace elements, keep good stability and validity is necessary.1Formulation screeningUse ferric citrate, zinc vitriol, copper sulphate, manganese sulfate, cobalt sulfate、 sodium selenite as raw materials. The final formulation consisting ferric citrate8.0g, zinc vitriol3.5g, copper sulphate1.8g, manganese sulfate0.8g, cobalt sulfate0.8g, sodium selenite0.1g which were dissolved to1000ml with double distilled water was selected by orthogonal experiment and animal test. The dose of all kinds of raw materials in the prescription was determined according to the demand in swines for trace elements such as Fe,Cu, Zn, Mn,Co,Se,etc. 2Preparation techniqueTo weigh accurately raw materials according to the prescription, dissolve them to1000ml with double distilled water, filter and adjust the pH to4.5-6.5, observe the clarity, check the pyrogen. And then subpackage the solution into brown ampoule.3Stability testTo explore the stability of the injection by Flame Atomic Absorption (iron, copper, zinc, mangnesium and cobalt) and Atomic Fluorometry (selenium) under four different conditions, including illumination accelerated test, temperatue accelerated test, long-term test and classical constant temperature test, to test its attenuation so as to judge the change of the content. To calculate the validity of the injection according to the concentration change of the trace elements in injection under different conditions in classical constant temperature test. The results showed that the stability of multi-trace-element injection for livestock and poultry was satisfactory and the samples could be placed under40℃for6months and20℃for one year. But the injection was sensitive to light and higher temperture, the content of trace elements was seriously decreased under that condition. The period of validity of the preparation was two years.
