This experimental research using ethanol extraction process, ethyl acetateextraction and petroleum ether purification methods extracted the flavonoids from theTamarix hohenackeri Bunge in the Tamaricaceae family. And the flavonoids wereidentified By UV coloration, and the reaction of ammonia, aluminum chloridereaction and paper chromatography. Then determine the flavonoids content by UVspectrophotometry. The result is flavonoids extraction rate of0.55%from Tamarixhohenackeri.By column chromatography, seven compounds were isolated from the flavonoids.Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and identified as3,5,4’-trihydroxy-7-meth-oxyflavone (1), rhamnetin (2),3,5,7-trihydroxy-4’-methoxyflavone (3), tamarixetin (4), kaempferol (5),quercetin-3-O-β-D-glucoside (6), quercetrin (7).This paper studied the anti-oxidation activity of these seven compounds, sevencompounds exhibited significant DPPH radical scavenging activities are stronger thanvitamin C. Activity of the compounds have closely related to the number of Phenolhydroxyl. The more number of Phenol hydroxyl got, the activity of scavenge DPPHradical is stronger. The position of3-hydroxy in flavonoids had combined with thesaccharide as glycosides, the activity of scavenge DPPH radical was significantlydecreased. The total anti-oxidant capacity of FRAP and ABTS test results show thatflavonoids have weak anti-oxidant capacity, and simple phenolic compounds havestrong total anti-oxidant capacity. The inhibition of tyrosinase activity experimentshows that all inhibition capacities of compounds were smaller than Kojic acid.
