Sugarcane is the major economic crops in China. Weeds are the main pest species in the sugarcane field, and included broad leaf weeds such as Abutilon teophrasti Medic., Xanthium sibiricum Patrin., Amaranthus retroflexus L., Oxalis corybosa DC. and so on, and gramineous weeds such as Digitaria sanguinalis (L.), Setaria viridis (L.), Echinochloa crusgalli (L.) and so on. There were the good control effects of Mesotrione on most broadleaf weeds such as Xanthium sibiricum Patrin., Abutilon theophrasti Medic., Chenopodium album L., Amaranthus retroflexus L., Polygonum L., and some gramineous weeds such as Echinochloa crusgalli (L.), Brachiaria eruciformis (J. E. Smith). For developing a one-off spraying herbicide to control weeds in sugar cane field, Mesotrione· Ametryn30%WP was developed by processing technology, bioassay and field experiments using Mesotrione and Ametryn as an active ingredient. The results were as follows.1. WP-3was the best multifunctional additives by screened out the additives and carriers of Mesotrione·Ametryn30%WP and its amount was6%. Light calcium carbonate filler was used as its carrier. The process of Mesotrione Ametryn30%WP was tried.2. A method for the determination of Mesotrione using High Performance Liquid Chromatography and Ametryn using gas chromatography was developed. This method was proved to be accurate, exact, high in purification, and convenient in operation. The results indicated that the suspension percentage, wettability, moisture, degree of fineness, pH, heat temperature stabilityof Mesotrione· Ametryn30%WP were suitable to the standard of WP quality. The quality index of Mesotrione· Ametryn30%WP were established according to its physicochemical characteristics.3. The results in the indoor and field trials showed that there were the good control effects of Mesotrione· Ametryn30%WP on gramineous weeds such as Digitaria sanguinalis (L.) Scop., Setaria viridis (L.) Beauv., Eleusine indica (L.), Echinochloa crusgalli (L.), and most broadleaf weeds such as Abutilon theophrasti Medic., Xanthium sibiricum Patrin., Amaranthus retroflexus L., Oxalis corybosa DC. and also on, the malignant perennial weeds such as Cyperus rotundus L. The effect of Mesotrione· Ametryn30%WP on weeds was better than that of single Mesotrione and Ametryn during3-5leaf stage of the sugarcanes and2-5leaf stage of weeds at the dosage of100-120g a.i./hm2, expanded the scopes of killing weed, and was safe to sugarcane and had no effect on the production of sugar cane.
