Study On Germplasm Characteristics, Purification Selection And Establishemnt Of Feathering Sexing Strains Of Wuhua Chicken

Studies were carried out on germplasm characteristics, purification selection and establishement offeathering sexing strains of national animal genetic resource--Wuhua chicken, in order to promoteprotection and exploitation of the breed.With on-site survey and sampling, the germplasm characteristics was clarified and enriched aftersystemic research on the appearance, body conformation, production performance, reproductionperformance and other relavent traits.“Local Breed Standard of Wuhua Chicken”,“TechonicalSpecification on Pullet Manegement of Wuha Chicken”, and “Technical Specification on LyaerMenagement of Wuha Chicken” were then drafted. The plumage color of Wuhua chicken is yellow orpartridge for hen and dark red or golden for male, with blue or light blue beak and shank. The chickenhas mature bodyweight of1895g for male and1430g for female, its egg production is120-140at age of60week with broodiness rate of around15%.A core breeding population was established and after three consecutive generations of selection, themixed plumage rates of male and female chickens were decreased from33.76%and11.01%to1.83%and0.94%, respectively. The fast and slow feathering lines were established with an accuracy rate of97.2%in auto-sexing. This research laid good foundation for the protection and industrialization ofWuhua chicken.
