The Investigation Of Liaoning Province Sow Welfare Feeding And Strategy

Animal welfare is the atatus that animal and its environment consistent with the mental andphysical health.Welfare pig producing was described as an integrated system including scintific design,reasonable temperature control and effective pollution management. Welfare pig producing caneffectively solve the scale pig breeding process in the presence of large temperature difference, heavypollutionand smell problems. In international trade, animal welfare has become an important criterion.Because of the breed mode, the legal system, national consciousness and other aspects of limitingfactors, welfare pig breeding in China is under low level and difficult to popularize in short time. And inorder to solve these problems, two research have been done in our paper.In the first part, feeding technology, farm building and planning, ventilation, cooling technology,heating technology, automatic control technology in the aspects of environment at present in Liaoningprovince have been investigated. Welfare issues of sow pregnancy, sow and piglets birth process havebeen point out, and the corresponding improvement measures have been put forward.In the second part, a research of sow welfare stutus in different sow labor time effects, healthcare, drug treatment have been statisticed. A litter size, elimination rate comparative study also havebeen carried out.. The results show that, comparing with the limiting bar feeding sows, thecirclefeeding sows have1.02head more litter size,50.36%lower postpartum endometritis incidence,28.07%higher seven days postpartum estrus rate and28.1%lower elimination rates. The resultindicated that the comprehensive benefits of circle feeding group is higher than the limit bar feedinggroup.In summary, our research indicatd that, in order to improve our nation`s pig welfare level, moreattention should be paid to pig physical needs such as space, diet, communication and etc. More effortsshould also be put to keep sows in a natural simulated status. And to the farrowing sows, the need ofpiglets should also be satisfied. Consider with the comprehensive benefits, circle feeding group is betterthan the limit bar feeding group.
