| Silage plays an important role in animal production, but some grass(such as alfalfa, red beans, clover and other legume)which are lack of sugar content or high buffer value are not easy to silage. So more and more domestic and foreign researchers studied the additives on improving the quality of silage fermentation, which were mainly concentrated in adding probiotics, enzyme preparations, organic acids and sugars and other substances. In fact, the effect of these additives on silage was unstable, and the effect of some inoculant added was aslo unsatisfactory. Herbal additives are mainly concentrated in the animal concentrated feed or fed directly, which exist the shortcomings of large using of drugs, high cost, and inconvenient to use,and the research on this part had not been reported at home or board. In this study, Chinese herbal medicine which had a promoting role in lactic acid bacteria was used as a silage additive, added to the silage sainfoin and corn stover. We studied the effect of Chinese herbs as a silage additive on sainfoin and corn stover silage quality.Mainly include the following:Experiment One The effect of Chinese herbal medicine on the growth of lactic acid bacteriaGreen Po II natural lactic acid bacteria feed additive was used as experimental strain, and then using MRS medium to dilute the liquid which had been extracted to1%ã€0.5%ã€0.25%ã€0.125%.The results showed that different types of Chinese herbal medicine had different roles on lactic acid bacteria and the same drug with different concentrations also had different effects. It had a promoting role when the concentration of Astragalus and Codonopsis was at0.5%ã€0.25%and0.125%, while it showed a slight inhibition at1%.Guanzhongã€Licorice and Atractylodes all had inhibition which was directly proportional to their concentration on the lactic acid bacteria. High concentration of Trichosanthes soup had a big inhibitory effect on lactic acid bacteria, while having no apparent effect at low concentration.Angelica had a significant promoting on lactic acid bacteria at high concentration of0.5%and1%, but it was not obvious at a concentration of of0.25%and0.125%.In summary, the best concentration of Astragalus and Codonopsis for promoting lactic acid bacteria was at rang of0.5%-0.25%.Experiment Two The effect of Chinese herbal medicine silage additives on the silage fermentation process of sainfoinThis test was made into seven treatments control (CK), Astragalus0.5%(HQa), Astragalus0.25%(HQb), Codonopsis0.5%(DSA),0.25%(DSB), Trichosanthes soup0.5%(Gla), Trichosanthes soup0.25%(Glb)with three replicates for each treatment.Analyzed the samples of pHã€dry matterã€crude proteinã€ammonia nitrogen/total nitrogen (NH3-N/TN)ã€solublesugar (WSC)ã€neutral detergent fiber (NDF)ã€acid detergent fiber (ANF) at the silage of1stã€3stã€5stã€7stã€15stã€30stã€45st day. The results showed that the NH3-N/TN in control group was almost higher than other additive groups from3st day silage, and the content of NH3-N/TN had an obvious upward trend after the silage of30days.The pH between treated groups added Trichosanthes soupã€dangshen and control group had no significant differences, but dangshen could significantly reduced the formation of NH3-N/TN and the concent of neutral detergent fiber and significantly improved the CP of silage feed (P<0.05); Astragalus could apparently reduced material pHã€the formation of NH3-N/TNã€the concent of neutral detergent fiber and improved the CP in raw material (P<0.05).So, in the case of this experiment adding the extract of Astragalus and Codonopsis could promote the silage fermentation quality of sainfoin which was directly proportional to the concentration; Adding0.25%content of Trichosanthes soup had a certain influence on sainfoin silage fermentation quality, but not significant.Experiment Three The effect of Chinese herbal medicine silage additives on the silage fermentation process of corn stoverThe experimental design and methods was the same as the experiment tow.The results showed that the pH of corn stover declined rapidly at the silage of fist5days and then it decreased slowly until a stable state; All the pH of treated groups decreased to4.0and0.5%Astragalus and Codonopsis could significantly reduced the pH of corn stalks (P<0.05), and the difference of NH3-N/TN concent was basically not significant(P>0.05). The soluble sugar of silage raw materials added Codonopsis extract was significantly higher than control group(P <0.05).In this experimental conditions, Trichosanthes soup add0.25%Codonopsis and Astragalus had no significant difference on corn silage fermentation quality. This study demonstrates that adding a certain amount of Astragalus and Codonopsis can improve the quality of sainfoin silage, the effect is more obvious with the increase of the amount of improvement. |
