Startegies For Development Of Three Transgenic Cereal Crops In China

Although the related research about genetically modified food crops in the worldis in full swing, but GM food crops in the world have not achieved large-scaleindustrialization, only transgenic cotton have achieved large-scale industrialization inChina. The reasons are various and multi-level complex, in the face of suchinternational situation, it is a worthy question to explore that how to make decisionsand where the real way of agriculture in our country is.Through analyzing research present situation and transgenic crop managementsystem of domestic genetically modified food crops such as wheat, rice, corn, thisstudy deeply analyzed existing problems in the process of transgenic research,management and industrialization in China, and the management situation ofgenetically modified crops in the world, then put forward the specific scheme andrationalization proposal on promoting industrialization of genetically modified mainfood crops in China.Through expounding the overview of genetically modified rice, geneticallymodified wheat and genetically modified corn in China, this study pointed out theexisting main problems on transgenic research of three major grain crops. Forexample, transgenic research talent was shortage; The development of domesticagriculture science and technology enterprise was lag behind; Transgenic breedingtechnology was lag behind and transgenic technology and transgenic researchinvestment funds were inadequacy.Through analyzing of the management situation of international geneticallymodified crops and safety evaluation and management situation of geneticallymodified food crops in China, this study pointed out the existing main problems ontransgenic crop safety management problems in China. For example, safetysupervising lacked global monitoring; The unified safety evaluation standards andtechnical support system had not formed; management laws and regulations policywere not perfect and departments responsibility were not clear.Through analyzing the guidance ideas and principles on three major grain crops genetically modified research, this study put forward the suggestions on strengtheningthe three major grain crops genetically modified research in China. For example,perfecting regulations and safety supervision system; Strengthening the three majorgrain crops transgenic technology innovation ability construction; Expandinginternational and regional cooperation and making full use of advantages of foreigntechnical personnel resources; Setting up multi-channel input mechanism andpromoting high quality talented person troop construction; Promoting theindustrialization of genetically modified food crops.
