As an important symbol of urban afforestation, plant community is not only the foundation ofecological function of urban green space system, but also the prerequisite for exploring moreconnotation of urban landscape. It has been gradually realized that health-care function and humanisticconnotation of urban green landscape are of great significance, along with the proposal and constructionof “ecological city” and "ecological landscape architecture city". This paper reviewed the course ofplant community application of urban green space construction and summarized its design in theory andpractice, providing bases for improving urban green landscape mode on ecological health in Hangzhou.Gardenia jasminoides community in Hangzhou area was chosen due to its relative stability and uniquehuman culture. Based on the investigation of ecology community feature as well as the composition anddiurnal variation analysis of VOCs in Gardenia jasminoides, it was evaluated that the active compoundsin its VOCs had many benefits. Strategies for constructing of ecological communities with theperception and practical experience of cultural atmosphere were proposed to improve Hangzhou city tobe “City, Ecology as Founding Principles” and “Green Model on Ecological Health”.According to literature review, experiment analysis and plant community investigation,3results of thisthesis showed:(1) Mostly growing in thin soil of down slope where are more outcrops of sunny south-facing rock,Gardenia jasminoides distributed randomly in mid-subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest ofcanopy density of60~70%, with Raphiolepis indica (Linn.) Lindl. of Rosaceae, Lindera aggregata(Sims) Kosterm.of Lauraceae and Rhododendron delavayi Franch.of Ericaceae as the mainassociated tree species.(2) The VOCs were identified with the thermal desorption system gas chromatography/massspectrometer technique TDS GC/MS.62VOCs were identified and mainly as terpenoids(31),esters(14) and alcohols(10), accounting for50%,22.58%and16.12%in total compoundsrespectively.(3) Based on Gardenia jasminoides community investigation and overall evaluation of the function ofurban green landscape, Further optimum strategies on existing green area community in Hangzhouas well as the design methods of healthy-keeping plant community were offered. It tried to bringmore ecological technology to the design of urban green space to facilitate its construction andsustainable development of ecology in Hangzhou area.
