Abstract/Summary:
Rice is one of the most cereal crops in the word. Brown planthopper(Nilaparvarata lugens St l)(BPH) and whitebacked planthopper (Sogatella furcifera(Horváth))(WBPH) are the most damaginginsect pests of rice, which often mixed occurrence in southern rice area of China and caused seriouslosses to rice production. The utilization of host-plant resistance is one of the most effective ways ofcontrolling BPH and WBPH. In this dissertation, Rathu Heenati (Bph3and Bph17, a dominant generesistance to WBPH), Ptb33(bph2and Bph3, a dominant gene resistance to WBPH), Fei B10(Bph10),Qb14(Bph14and Wbph7(t)) and Qb15(Bph15and Wbph8(t)) were used as the resistant sources andwere cultivated20improved lines. The seedling resistance of BPH of the20improved lines and theircorresponding testcross combinations were evaluated by SSST (Standard Seedbox ScreeningTechnique,SSST), and the resistance to BPH and WBPH at adult stage of them were studied, respectively. Furthermore, Bph14and Bph15were imported into Fei B10by marker-assisted selection(MAS) and backcrossing, respectively. The results were as follows:(1) The seedling resistance to BPH of the20improved lines and their corresponding testcrosscombinations were screening and rescreening by SSST, and the resistance at adult stage in paddy fieldwere studied meanwhile. The results showed that the seedling resistance which screening by SSSTreflects the reactions of varieties of resistance or suscept to BPH basically. However, the evaluation ofthe resistance at adult stage indicated that the adulting resistance is not absolutely consistent with theseedling performance. Nine improved lines of different resistant genes which perform resistance to BPHin both seedling and adulting were obtained by the comparison of the resistance at seedling and adultstage, and clarified the stability of Fei B10resistance to BPH in rice.(2) Rathu Heenati, a Sri Lanka variety, showed high resistance to BPH, was improved in thisdissertation. The molecular detection of the resistant genes was only performed in the basic shape ofimproved lines, the screening of seedling resistance was periodicity carried out during the improvedprocession and was also performed in the basic shape of lines. At last,3improved lines were obtainedwhich contained Bph3or Bph17and performed ideal resistance to BPH.(3) Bph14and Bph15, both of resistance to biotype Ⅰa nd biotype Ⅱof BPH, were successfultransfered into Fei B10with Bph10by MAS and backcrossing, respectively. And the homozygousintrogression lines of resistant genes were obtained.(4) The adulting resistance to BPH and WBPH of the20improved lines were evaluated, respectively. And9improved lines, performed both resistance to BPH and WBPH, were obtained. It ispreliminary clear the incorrelation between two kinds of resistance (resistance to BPH and WBPH inrice).
