During the historic development of human society, the dogs have plaid an important role. They were used for hunting and guarding and help us in a lot of fields of human life. With the development of science and technology, they were also used as blindman guider, drug smuggling, explosive investing and public security purposes. In this study,980breeding index of German shepherd dogs were chosen to be used as the analysis of reproductive patterns, so as to understand their reproductive regularities. The result showed that the German shepherd dogs are cyclic oestrus animals. They could behave heat all the year round. During the spring and autumn, the number of German shepherd dogs at heat is more than the other2seasons and the number of heat in spring is more than that in autumn. The oestrus duration is about13.02±2.461d and the gestation period is about61.33±3.09d. The heat, breeding, whelping and the number of2-month-alive puppies varied with season and the temperature alteration. The best reproduction season is spring, and the autumn is better than summer and winter. To analyze the relationship between climate and oestrus, the correlationship of heat and some climate factors were determined in the present experiment. The best heat temperature is20℃~30℃, and the best humidity is40~80. By using the ANOVA statistical analysis and regression of curve estimation method, the correlationship between heat and temperature appeared cubic curve. And the correlationship between humidity and heat is cubic curve. The regression equation is as follows:The regression equation between heat and temperature:Y=8.195+0.026X+-0.012X2+0.002X3(-14℃<X<28℃)(Y:the number of heat X:temperature)The regression equation between heat and humidity:Y=-6.167+0.981X+3.801X2+-0.392X3(0<X<100)(Y:the number of heat X:humidity)In this study, the non-climate factor which can influence the breeding index were also analyzed. From the result, we can see that the duration of heat of German shepherd dogs increased fist then decreased when they were grown up. The litter size can influence the pregnancy period. The result is that when the litter increase, the pregnancy period decrease. From this study,we can also find that different male dog can influence the percentage of Two-month-alive puppy and successful copulate.Different raise mode can also have influence effect. The german shepherd dog which is raised by house will have a better reproduction result than that raised by intensification. The present study could be a reference to help improve the study in reproductive biology and technology.
