China is gradually popularizing the mechanized harvesting of rice, but theperformance of rice harvester is not enough superior in domestic with poor flexibilityand trafficability, high failure rate, low quality of rice harvest and high price.This paper develops a simple, applicable and versatility rice harvester combiningthe good maneuver performance of diamond-shaped car and good road performance ofarticulated vehicle. Changes the overall frame into articulated frame in order toimprove road performance of the chassis when drives on country roads and rice fields.This paper has carried out detailed research on articulated frame on principle design,certification, structural design, mechanical properties analysis, optimization design,road performance analysis of the rice harvester, prototype tests.Firstly, the driving performance of diamond-like chassis is analyzed, articulatedframe is proposed to improve its trafficability, and the structures of the chassis are alsodesigned. Secondly, the static and dynamic mechanical properties of the articulatedframe are analyzed by the ANSYS software, the articulated frame is optimizedaccording to the results of mechanical analysis. Then, multi-body dynamic model ofthe harvester is established to analyze its climbing ability and obstacle ability.The dynamic contact model between rigid tire and soil is also established to analyzethe changes of subsidence and drawbar pull at different longitudinal slip. Finally,trafficability of the harvester prototype is tested to validate the driving performance ofthe articulated frame.
