The construction work of forest for water resources conservation in Miyun District plays a crucial role in sustaining the high standard of drinking water for people living in capital Beijing. A properly designed and efficient planning for the forestation of water resource conservation be beneficial to maximize the development of our society, eco-environment and economy for Beijing.Recent trend of information technology shows that forestation benefits a lot from applying the latest information technology. Future forest engineering will be featured by a more standardized, refined and technical mode and weights more in ecological construction and economical developing.This paper conducts a deep and solid survey towards the forestation plan for Miyun District in Beijing. We apply the information technology to the planning of forestation work by leveraging the computation capability of machine in selecting ways to cultivate the forests within a given area. Featured by the high precision of computing results and current standard, planning forestation becomes more intelligent and efficient instead of using its old extensive way.The Water Resource Conservation Forestation System is C#based, secondary developed upon ArcEngine, using LS fractal algorithm, CAD capability and Visual Studio2008as IDE. The system could determine the specific site type for each forestation address, matching it with a proper forestation mode intelligently. Users could also customize their own preferred mode without sacrificing the flexibility. According to the different forestation modes and site types, our system could output the corresponding drawings for forestation projects. It also provides modules for managing the forestation modes and budgets, preparing the data and output for the function of forestation planning.Our result shows that building the system upon ArcEngine could not only simplify the map operation and make forestation planning becomes more easy, but also can be scaled to meet users’own requirements by adding modules, which makes the planning more flexible and put more weights into the field of forestation for information technology.
