The concrete filled tubular up-flange composite girder (CFTFG) is an innovative composite girder. So far, there is no relevant research about shearing behavior of CFTFG found from both domestic and overseas. To study its shearing behavior, eight CFTFG specimens were tested, and the numerical and theoretical analysis was conducted. Using the three study methods, the shearing behavior of CFTFG was analyzed thoroughly. The failure modes of the concrete filled circular up-flange composite girders, the concrete filled rectangle up-flange and flat web composite girders and the concrete filled rectangle up-flange and corrugated web composite girders were obtained from the experiments. The relation between deflection and shear strain distributional regularity were summarized. The test specimens were modeled using finite element and the computer program ANASYS was used to perform analysis. The shearing parameters were analyzed and theimperfections, the rigidity of flanges and the ratio of width to height of web were analyzed. The existing formulas for calculating the ultimate shear strength of I-girder, steel-concrete composite beam and corrugated web beam were analyzed. Characteristics of these formulas were summarized .These formulas were used to calculate the shearing capacity of the test specimens. Based on the analyzing results, a formula accounting for the rotational restraint provided to the web plate by the flange was obtained to calculate the shear strength of CFTFG.
