It is crucially important to inspect the seam quality in the long distance large diametertransportation pipeline construction and operation. X-Ray detection, adopted by manycountries, plays an important role in pipeline welding flaw detection. Traditional way ofdetection is inefficient and difficult to determine a flaw, thus, it is significant to develop awelding seam detection system. This paper tells the different forms of external scanning devices, and the design of adetector which can rotate around the pipe based on the flexible member movement principle. In this paper, the real time imaging technology of X-Ray detection and external scanningdevice are comprehensively stated and analyzed, and on this basis, in accordance withrequirements of the real time imaging X-Ray detector external scanner image collectionsystem to the external rotation mechanism, as per the Euler’s formula and the chain driveprinciple of flexible member’s friction driving, a new external scanner with the real timeimaging system was raised and designed, which is moving with chain wheels to movebetween the chain and pipe by gearing with the chain to drive the frame to rotate around thepipe. This paper states the stability of external scanner in rotation and the key factors andquantitative analysis of its bearing capacity, meanwhile, the force carrying analysis andnecessary calculation are done to satisfy the technological requirements of X-Ray real timeimaging of the mechanism. |
