Study On Exploitation And Conservation Of Zigong Global Geopark, China

Geological heritages are formed by the inner and outer-momentum geological function, as the only information source to research evolvement of earth, they have very important scientific value. At the same time, they are direct objects of geo-science studies, and natural laboratories and leisure place. It has been a consensus that building geopark is a right way to protect and exploit geological heritages by governments and academics.Zigong geopark is located in the south of Sichuan basin which be promised to join global geopark net in2008and covers37.93km2. There are profuse typical and precious dinosaur fossils, well salt product heritages and merge natural landforms, water landscape, natural ecologic and human scenery. They have diverse classes, unique shape, high values that cover study and aesthetics. However, Zigong region promote slowly in economic, scientific and technological. People sided pursuit economic benefit in the process of geopark exploitation, but in the geopark conservation, government invest limited human and material, so the precious geological heritages of geopark suffered varying degrees of destruction.This article investigates geological heritages and expert’s advices in Zigong global geopark, analyses their physical geography condition and region geologic background, and it particularly discusses the present condition and the problem of the geopark development and geologic heritages protection. On the basic of their character and distributing pattern, establishes classification after referring to some norms, from the qualitative and quantitative aspects, constructs evaluation system and concludes the result for the main geologic heritages, and also takes a series of proposals and measures, in hope of better coordination relation between geological heritages’ conservation and exploitation.
