As a kind of new-style fire fighting and rescue equipment, multi-functional breaking and fire-fighting truck plays more and more important role in rescue. Boom is an important load bearing component of multi-functional breaking and fire-fighting truck. The boom affects the overall performance of multi-functional breaking and fire-fighting truck and the quality of rescue. The working surroundings of multi-functional breaking and fire-fighting truck are atrocious, and the load is more complex than general construction machines. It’s not rational to design structures just considering dynamic load with dynamic load coefficient from experience or standard. It is very necessary to analyze the dynamic characteristics of boom of multi-functional breaking and fire-fighting truck, to simulate the deformer and stress distributing of boom during working, to supply reference for design. Therefore, the dynamic characteristics of boom of18meters multi-functional breaking and fire-fighting truck are analyzed in the maximum height work condition with ADAMS and ANSYS. The main work of this paper is as follows:(1) The rigid dynamic analysis for boom of multi-functional breaking and fire-fighting truck:The rigid model for boom of multi-functional breaking and fire-fighting truck is built with Pro/E and ADAMS. The dynamic characteristics of boom are analyzed during fixing hammer, adjusting the position of boom and breaking working.(2) The rigid-flexible coupling dynamic analysis for boom of multi-functional breaking and fire-fighting truck:The rigid-flexible coupling model for boom of multi-functional breaking and fire-fighting truck is built with Pro/E, ANSYS and ADAMS. The dynamic characteristics of boom are analyzed during breaking working.(3) The modal analysis for boom of multi-functional breaking and fire-fighting truck: The finite element model for boom of multi-functional breaking and fire-fighting truck is built with ANSYS. The mode of boom is analyzed, and how the position of boom will influence the inherent frequency is discussed. Then the common methods to control vibration are introduced.The dynamic characteristics of boom of multi-functional breaking and fire-fighting truck are analyzed in this paper. The variable tendency of force of cylinders and articulated points is obtained through multi-body dynamic analysis to provide the basis for structural design. Vibration characteristics are obtained through modal analysis and investigation on how the position of boom influence natural frequency to lay the foundation for vibration-weakening design.
