Research On Reconstruction Modes And Design Strategies Of Urban Abandoned Quarries

On account of the pollution and security risks, reusing of the large number of abandoned quarries located in the city or the suburbs has become an important topic on sustainable development in China in resent years. Meanwhile, these abandoned sites usually have favorable external conditions and location advantages, and their security is relatively good, which make them cultural and economic values co-exist development and construction by functional replacement is an effective way to reuse them. Taking the abandoned quarries within the scope of urban or suburban as research objects, the paper has a research on the reconstruction modes and design Strategies of them, and takes Dalian region for example to do a further investigate and design discussion, all for the purpose of providing reference and Strategyological guidance to related urban problems.The article first has a basic theory and practice study of topics. The first chapter describes the background and the current problems, and the relevant research course at home and abroad; on the basis of characteristics’ analysis, Chapter Ⅱ discusses the present research and practical experiencere on reconstruction in terms of theories, policies, procedure and so on.The second part is the core content section about reconstruction modes and design Strategy. Based on case interpretation, re-construction modes in Chapter III summarize the existing dominant pattern, source of funds and the type of development model in domestic and international practice, and make a comparative study; this chapter also summarizes the design techniques in the stone walls, steep slope, valley or pits special landscape area.Chapter IV and Chapter V have a study on the reconstruction of the Dalian area. Based on the survey of abandoned quarries’actuality and reusing situation, Chapter IV analyses the reconstruction problem existing in Dalian; and taking the International Design Workshop’s actual issue "the Reconstruction of Dalian Zhong Ge3rd Mine" for example, Chapter V explores the reconstruction modes and design proposal suitable for Dalian.The last chapter, based on the organization and work process of Sino-Australian design workshop, sums up the workshop’s characteristics in terms of teamwork, participation, conceive and design solutions to explore the scientific research and design Strategies which could apply for the similar no exact standard answer urban problems.
