| Because of more large-scale production equipments and more complex production system, the meter quantity rapid grow and the operation staffs monitor difficulty suddenly increase and system automatic control difficulty also increase. Therefore, use of distributed control, centralized operation characteristics of distributed control system, DCS system will be used in thermal power plant control, can greatly improve the degree of automation of the production process, but also improve the safety and reliability of system operation. The system centralize detect and management and a series of task, is conducive to the comprehensive management of the whole process of production and operation, can also reduce the amount of control room instrument, saving investment, reducing operation and maintenance costs, which greatly reduce the labour intensity, greatly improving the working efficiency. In addition, DCS as the center, convenient for all links in the production chain organically, realize all systems network automation.This article introduces simply the characteristics of thermal power plant and control requirements, and history and basic structure of DCS. Combining the example of power plant design, DCS application and selection in the project are detailed.
