In the process of power transmission, especially in the high-voltage transmission, the reactive power balance is a very important issue,with the important significance of power grid and equipment safety. In the wide range of reactive power compensation device, the magnetic valve controlled reactor(MCR) adjust equivalent reactance value smoothly by changing the magnetic valve reactor core saturation.Because of its novel structure, simple maintenance, low cost, high reliability and wide adjustment range, resulting in a lot of applications.Firstly, from the magnetic properties of core material, the structural features, working principle, working condition and the corresponding electromagnetic equation of MCR are analyzed,and according to the simplified mathematical model of equivalent circuit, set up the model of220V,600Var reactor in Matlab/Simulink. Put forward several solutions to improve the response speed of the reactor.Secondly, reactor design and calculation formula are given, including core, winding diameter calculation.and so on. For the multistage type magnetic valve, on the basis of the different saturation, derive reactors fundamental and harmonic current and the size of the magnetic valve structure can be optimized through simulation.Next, using the MATLAB GUI tools to develop the MCR design software with parameter input, calculation and simulation,display the work of the current situation under different parameters, and get a10kV,500k VA MCR with the use of software.Finally, the paper introduces the instructions of the use of the software MagNet. and the magnetic field of MCR was established with the software, the magnetic field distribution and the working current under different working conditions are analyzed. As a result, compared with that under Simulink simulation to verify the correctness of the model.Based on the magnetic field analysis, calculate the no-load and rated iron loss under the traditional theory calculation model and based on the Bertotti discrete iron loss calculation model, based on the parametric design, edge effect of magnetic valve saturation is analyzed and optimization designed.
