Research On Selection Of Main Power System Of Small Lng Ship

In recent years, second transfer of LNG is increasingly required in the LNG transport market, so more and more attention has been put to the design and construction of small LNG ships. Now, the research on the small LNG ships is still in the initial stage. Meanwhile, the design and construction of the small LNG ship has been provided vaster space as the development of the main power system and the application of the new technology on LNG ship.It is the research on the selection of main power system of small LNG ship taking the22000m3small LNG ship as the target ship according to the features of the small LNG ship. Firstly, it analyzes the development status and transportation form and summarizes the characteristics of the small LNG ship. Secondly, it analyzes the power systems and compares the different power systems, then gets the power system for the target ship, which is dual fuel engine, reducing gearbox, CPP and PTO type. According to the power system used on the target ship, it estimates the ME power using the Admiralty Coefficient Method, and that the propeller used on the ship is the four blades MAU series has been confirmed. Then, it estimates the diameter and rpm of the propeller. Thirdly, it selects the WARTSILA9L50DF engine as the main power plant of the target ship using the Propeller Atlas Design and primary Engine-Propeller Matching methods, and gets that the diameter of the propeller is6.23m and the optimized speed of the ship is16.5kn according to the terminal engine-propeller matching. Finally, it analyzes the cargo tank and fuel system according to the power plant of the target ship and it does the primary design and selection of the fuel oil system and gas system.The thesis discusses the main power system of the small LNG ship from the view of engineering application. And it will be useful to the future design of small LNG ship power system.
