With the development of shipping industry, AIS technology can be used not only in the navigation and shipbuilding industry, but also in the aviation industry and even the entire transportation sector. The use of AIS is to realize the automatic identification of the ship to assist in target tracking and to provide reliable information. The aim is to well know the status of the sea transportation. However, for some ships, Standard AIS still has some problems, such as financial problems, channel management etc. But the main problem is that AIS has no independent intellectual property rights, there are serious information safty problems. The embedded system has become one of the popular concepts in the computer field and it has been widely used in various fields, it has strong characteristics of specificity, encapsulation, foreign, real-time, reliability and so on. To deal with these situations, this article effectively combines correlation technique of the embedded system with AIS, so as to achieve its function better.The design is based on embedded ARM architecture as development platform and Linux as the operating system to develop one AIS information terminal. The design mainly focuses on the research and realization of AIS data processing, including the developing platform building of the hardware and software, The developing platform for hardware is build with embedded chip S3C2440as core, adopting serial communication. The building of software development platform is based on the model of host machine-the target machine. In this model, the Host machine (the Host) is a general-purpose computer, while the target machine is based on AIS information terminals of ARM-S3C2440development board. This is achieved by the cross compiler software development tools. The design also realizes the AIS dedicated user interface based on embedded Linux operating system, with the embedded Qt as the GUI graphical interface of the system.Firstly, the paper introduces the overall design of the system; Followed for received AIS data information to analyse and mainly utilizes the ARM9microprocessor as core processor of terminal to receive information, store, decode, encode, transmit and display.It will piek up the dynamic and static information of ship and display by the ARM mieroprocessor depending on the actual requirements.
