Nowadays, the rapid development of social economy has seen the great advance in automobile industry which, however, responsible for oil shortage and environmental degradation. As a result, it has been a hot pot to research in new energy automobile field. Among those kinds of vehicles, the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) has its advantage in technology and application for it is able to reduce the consumption of energy and lower pollution of the environment. Despite the rudimentary mass production has been done on HEV, lots of things, especially the HEV control strategy should be done and perfected.HEV, as we can say from its name, is a kind of vehicle with two power sources one of which is the traditional combustion motor. And the storage battery driven electrical machine is HEV’s the other motor. It has been found that HEV in good design and control has great advantage in the reduction of oil consume and pollution with no motive power being cut down.In this article, basic information including the advantage and disadvantage of HEV and the classification and the control methods of HEV is introduced primarily. Then models of parallel HEV including car body, transmission, engine, battery, electric motor and fuel tank are built based on the experimental data and mathematical model in relation. Finally the parallel HEV is combined.After that, the control model of minimum equivalent fuel consumption of HEV system is built. This kind of models has no need in the requirement of knowledge of HEV’s driving cycle and its preferences. Instead, it can perform a good performance in fuel consumption only by data collection itself. A key parameter named gas-electric conversion efficiency is built in the process of the construction of this strategy. And objective function can be obtained by transmit the consumption of electric energy to fuel consumption with the help of this parameter. Once the object function’s minimum value is gained, our goal then is obtained.Finally, the simulation of the whole HEV system is performed. And a good fuel economy is showed according to the result. As is seen from the simulation result, this kind of control strategy performs well in improving the automobile fuel economy which will do benefit to the research and improvement of HEV.
