As a special instrument for measuring electrical parameters,the energy meter has been greatly developed from the invention. In the calculation of price, a single rate tariff is no longer adapt to the development of society. In order to match the TOU price policy, electric energy meter should have the function of multi-rate tariff measurement. At present,Several reading modes exist simultaneously in our country. With the development of electronic technology, remote meter reading system will continue to be set up and perfect. CAN bus has outstanding advantages, in terms of real-time performance, reliability, anti-jamming capability, fault tolerance, etc. In recent years it has been increasingly used in many areas of automation. In the field of remote meter reading, there will be space for development of the CAN bus.In this context, a kind of multi-rate energy meter reading system based on CAN bus has been designed in this paper. This paper describes the design of multi-rate watt-hour meter and the CAN bus reading system in hardware and software.In the design of the multi-rate watt-hour meter, it has a dedicated high-precision energy metering IC ADE7758as the electrical parameter measurement unit,and With super anti-jamming capability STC12C5A60S2MCU as the control unit. It can measure a variety of electrical parameters by the design of hardware and software. Including:VRMS, IRMS, active and reactive power, apparent power, power factor,frequency and other parameters. This energy meter has many functional modules.Power collection module consists of transformers,it can achieve the accurate acquisition of power; Clock module provide the system with the time standard.Measurement of multi-rate tariff can be achieved through software programming; The storage module can achieve real-time storage of electricity consumption information;It has the function of saving date when the power-down; The display module is responsible for displaying the measurement of electrical parameters.In the design of CAN bus meter reading system, This paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of several existing meter reading, Pointing out the advantages of CAN bus technology. Then describes the CAN bus remote meter reading system. For a single CAN network, the number of nodes is likely to be limited. Communication rate is likely to be affected. In this paper the design of meter reading system of the CAN bus star topology is Proposed. CAN interface circuit is designed based on the theory. And anti-jamming circuit is processing. The design of CAN interface circuit make this multi-rate watt-hour meter can be used as a node connected to the CAN bus,in order to achieve remote meter reading.At last, according to the data obtained by experiment, the feasibility of the system can be verified.
