Study On Functional Diversification Design Of Academic Dining Interior Space

Since the reform and opening up, the education in China has a booming development. The universities in China began to increase enrollment, and the universities’logistics parts have socialized reforms. The revolution brings various new changes to the dining halls of the universities. The college students are adopting a new consumption idea since the economics grown. So the students prefer higher standard to their dining halls. All the old dining buildings were established in the past and, obviously, the function could not reach the needs of the current students. So making new dining halls with multiple functions is a necessary trend, and also the new dining halls should satisfy the functions including the follow:catering, entertainment, relaxation and shopping.This paper defines a new concept of the college dining halls. Discussing the outstanding international and domestic projects, the paper analyzes the development and influence of the dining halls in China’s universities. The paper also summarize main problems exists in the dining halls, and propose the features and value of the dining hall revolution.The core of this paper is to find out the necessary need of the current college students to the shape and style of new dining halls. It describes separately the shape need first, and analyzes main functional area, the key points of catering space and the function for the special area. Then according to the new style design, the paper proposes the design concepts and tactics. It brings a detailed analyzing research based on the color, material, physical environment, furniture displaying, economic features and the corresponding design to the new style dining halls.According to the existed projects and experience, the research topic of this paper has certain important meaning which shows that a design trend and tactics to bring a new style dining hall.
