Ship noise is a serious problem of noise pollution. It not only has an adverse health effects on crews’ health, but also leads to fatigue damage of marine equipment and shorten the life of the ship. With the development of ships in large-scale, the noise induced by power equipment is increasingly more serious. And people have a higher demand for the ship comfort. The International Maritime Organization approved an amendment to the revised draft IMO-A468(Ⅻ) by discussion at the recent meetings. The draft has higher and stricter requirements for ship noise. In order to face the impact of the new criterion to Chinese shipbuilding industry, this paper studies on ship cabin noise with statistical energy analysis.By Comparing DE56new criterion with IMO-A468(Ⅻ), it is found that living area was the focus of noise reduction. Most of cabins in living area are reduced by5dB again. It is a bigger challenge to Chinese ship noise control that always lacks of enough concern.Statistical energy analysis is applied to study the effect of damping on cabin noise. Damping’s physical characteristics have different influence on cabin noise. Under different noise excitation damping has different impact on sound pressure level of cabins. Damping layer structures have a larger effect on the high-frequency noise than the low-frequency noise,Statistical energy analysis model of3900TEU container ship is established based on VAone software. Each cabin’s noise level is evaluated by A468and DE56new criterion. For the cabins’ noise reasons, noise reduction measures are proposed. Through optimizing the measures, the plan achieves the optimal effect. In the end, the assessment of general process of ship cabins acoustic design is proposed. In this paper, the research results have a certain reference value for ship cabin noise reduction under the new standard.
