With the sustained development of vacuum technique and vacuum multi-layer insulation, the vacuum multi-layer insulation, which called "super insulation", isapplied to a wide variety of industries, such as aerospace industry and cryogenicliquid storage industry. The insulation performance of vacuum multi-layer insulation material is affected by the materials, the vacuum between layers, the layer density, the total thickness of the material, the boundary temperature, the test platform geometry, and many other factors. So, even if the same insulation material will obtain different results under different test platforms. In order to measure the performance of vacuum multi-layer material insulation standardly, building a reliable vacuum multi-layer insulation material insulation test system is of great significance. The main work of this paper is as follows:1. Summarized several typical test platforms at home and abroad, sketched the development of the vacuum multi-layer insulation material and introduced the influencing factors of vacuum performance.2. After described the test system particularly in this article, we compared the experimental heat leakage with the theoretical heat leakage to verify the reliability of the system.3. Described the calorimeter, Vacuum system, leak detection system, data acquisition system and cryogenic liquid system in detail.4. Based on this apparatus, we conducted three kinds of multi-layer insulation materials performance testing, and analysed the results. The experimental results have guiding significance for the actual production, engineering applications.5. Finally, pointed out the development trend of the future multi-layer insulation materials testing system.
