More and more electronic control technologies have been applied to the automotive industry, in order to meet increasingly stringent national emission regulations and improve the diesel engine’s power and economical efficiency. So, engine electronic control system is more and more complex, inspection or maintenance is more and more difficult, then on-board diagnostic system comes into being. Furthermore, the industrialization of electronic control system needs support of end of line tool. Nowadays, domestic diesel engine electronic control systems rely mainly on foreign technology, little independent on self-developed technology or platform. This paper focuses on the development of OBD platform and EOL platform.OBD platform which is based on ISO15031protocols and national standard communicates with ECU by ISO15765protocols. Diagnostic management system is designed for fault confirmation, storage of trouble code and freeze frame and MIL status. OBD platform, based on the seven services of ISO15031protocols, is constructed to acquire messages of DTC and freeze frame and finish real-t ime monitor. Communication protocol manages messages with signal frame and multi-frames.EOL platform which is based on microchip Bootloader and uses UDS protocol, guarantees object’s independence and improves the efficiency of the application program and data download. Seed&Key algorithm for access rights, CRC checksum for data security and signature for message integrity are used on the platform, which can ensure it efficient and stable. Finally, through mathematical models and experimental analysis, the two platforms were showed that they could service in the common rail diesel engine with their efficiency and stability.
