This paper came from the scientific research project of Jilin Ministry of Education: Study of Technology System Compositing Light-weight Steel Structure and Heat Insulation as A Whole ([2009] No.185).This project mainly researches the performance and function of the structure system, which composites cold-formed thin-wall steel and cast-in-situ light-weight concrete. Compared with the other kinds of the structures, light-weight steel structure system has advantages such as light-weight, high-strength, environmental-protect, re-usable. It is in conformance with Sustainable Development. Meanwhile, compared with general concrete, straw concrete is more light-weight, cheaper, more convenient-construction and more earthquake-resistant. This system unites rational structure and save-energy architecture, which has never been involved before in the field of composite structures. The study results must accelerate the development of residence production, which is important to build comparatively well-off residence.As the important parts of the structure system which carry and spread loads, joints are the key of the new technology system studying. This paper does contrast analysis between the steel joints and the composite joints by materials study, testing study and ANSYS study. This paper mainly includes:1. We did two teams of joints tests. The first team included three kinds of light-weight joints; the second team included three kinds of composite joints, which were the same steel form as the first team.2. We analyzed the characteristics and breaking form of the joints, and did a comparing analysis between the light-weight joints and the composite joints including the P-v, P-ε, M-θand bearing capacity. The results indicated that the light-weight concrete confined the yielding of the cold-formed thin-wall steel and the welds cracking, as a result, the bearing capacity of the joints became improved; compared with the light-weight joints, the semi-rigid characteristics of the composite joints were more close to the rigid characteristics.3. Using ANSYS we analyzed the stress、strain and displacement of the joints.We also compared the ANSYS results and the test results.4. According to the testing data, we posed a calculating method of composite joints.The paper has two creativities:1. It is never learnt that people composite the cold-formed thin-wall steel and the light-weight concrete as the joints.2. It is never learnt that people use welding as joints of cold-formed thin-wall steel structure.
