Ship crane, also known as vessel crane, is a sort of crane that is specialized inlifting heavy loads on board with the advantage of small installation space, liftingquality, high transmission efficiency, fast action and high reliability. Therefore, it iswidely used in a variety of ships and vessels. With the development of the oceanexploitation, ship crane gets the general concern of the national military and civilmarine engineering in recent years.This paper presents a method of overall design scheme of the SQ6ship crane,completes the detailed structural design of its main components, and makes thoroughanalysis on the technical characteristics and development trends of ship crane liftingequipment, which is based on the premise of the practical application and thoroughanalysis of investigation on the ship crane at home and abroad. A three-dimensionalmodel of ship crane is established by Pro/Engineering, which makes it materialized,visualized. It also shortens the design cycle and improves work efficiency. Based onvirtual prototype technology, the paper makes dynamic calculation for the three-dimensional model and performs the force status of the key hinge points through theforce curve diagram evidently. Meanwhile, based on the finite element theory, thepaper uses ANSYS software to calculate and analyze the key component (boom inchapter II) of the ship crane in order to verify the rationality and reliability of thedesign of the boom. To avoid the defect in the traditional design that the use of largesafety factor due to inability to calculate the strength and stiffness accurately.The ship crane in this paper is designed and manufactured separately for theuser’s requirements. Although this is a non-standard design, this ship crane can stillcomplete general lifting operations with a strong versatility in addition to theoperations in the special conditions that the user’s requires. The design andmanufacture of this ship crane accumulated some experience in order design forusers’requirements.
