Livable City Evaluation Studies Of Linfen City

Stemming from Western developed countries, livable city is pointed as a series of phenomenon imposing on residents greatly come out while urbanization. In spite of many studies on livable cities abroad, a standard of judging livable cities has not yet been built; studies on livable cities at home has been launched only for several years, which merely are limited on cities such as Beijing, Shanghai. The small and medium-sized cities have not yet been exposed. This thesis is proposed to launch a research on Linfen, a representative small and medium sized city facing sever problems in urbanization while developing quickly.Based on much relevant documents, material, and studies theoretically on abroad and at home, and the characteristics of Linfen, the thesis set up a system of judging livable cities in terms of economy, social development, residents’ living standard and environment. A comprehensive analysis has been made on through principal component analysis and questionnaire survey. The paper is made up of four parts as follows:(1) The thesis makes a systematical expatiation on livable city including conception, related theory and the research both at home and on abroad. It also defines the contents and features of livable city by comparing the livable city theory to the tradition theory.(2) In the light of studies on livable city, the thesis gets the grounds and principles about the indices system. According to features of Linfen, it also makes the suitable evaluation indices system of Linfen livable city.(3) On the basis of data collection, questionnaires using and data statistic, the thesis finds the currents problems lying in the develeopment of Linfen. Thus, providing the related solutions, it aims at offering advantageous basis to the Linfen livable city construction.Due to its an overall study on current livable conditions in Linfen, the thesis has its own shortage should be developed further.
