The product design process is the primary phase and the creative and challenging part in product lifecycle. The implementation effect of the follow-up manufacture process is directly influenced by design results which are also the major factor of controlling product cost. Along with increasing of product complexity, urging of market requirement and spreading of networked product development mode, product design theories and methods have attracted wide attention from academies and industries and become important research directions and application fields. However, requirement acquirement in the early stage of product design is a more important factor in product design and how to acquire customers’ requirement rapidly and accurately has become the key point of design. In computer supported network environment, the theory of product coordinate design in the early stage of conceptual design, which involves from the initial acquisition of customer requirements to the final design attribute, is studied.The previous research works on the acquisition of customer requirement are summarized, and deficiencies are analyzed. Combined with the benefits of all methods of requirement acquisition, a theory structure model of customer coordinate design in the early stage of conceptual design is studied. A method of acquisition based on fuzzy set expression and entropy calculation, with elevating of TRIZ theory, is put forward in order to acquire effective customer requirements which represent the real voice of customer. The product’s principle structure modeling of conceptual design phase can be achieved by the IDEFO method after the function carry to optimize structure and guarantee the model’s rationality.The general architecture of a prototype system for customer involved product design process under the network environment has been given to validate the ideas and methods proposed in this dissertation. By using J2EE, JAVA, My SQL, Struts, Socket, four sub-modules including Customer Requirement Function Acquisition, Customer Requirement Function Optimizing, customer coordinate product design and Web-based Design are developed and implemented. A practical case is used to validate the correctness and effectiveness of the research results. In the end of the dissertation, some conclusions have been drawn and the future directions in the field are given.
