Along with voltage level increasing of electric power system, the DC transmission system is developed rapidly for it’s so many advantages. Especially for UHVDC transmission, it has been developed so fast for the large capacity and long distance power transmission characteristic. For UHVDC transmission system, the most important equipment is converter transformer. The valve side winding of converter transformer must withstand the joint effect of the compound AC and DC electric fields in operation, and it must also withstand the effect of polar reverse voltage at the reverse moment of power flow of rectification end and inverter end reversing. Therefore, comparing with the normal power transformer, the inner electric field distribution of converter transformer is very different.Considering the complex situations which the converter transformer must withstand different insulation test during manufacturing process in the factory and it must withstand different kind of voltages which affect on the converter transformer during the equipment operation, this thesis describes the following solution:all kinds of electric field distribution can be analyzed by setting up the structure models similar to the actual products, then different structural product proposal can be optimized, so that the converter transformers can meet the requirement of ultra high voltage level, and the design structure of converter transformer can be guarantee to be the best one.
