Research On Application Of Demand Side Management In Country-level Power Supply Enterprise

Power demand side management is a special strategy towards the goal of saving energy，protecting environment，and achieving low cost power service. This management works byincreasing the efficiency of terminal power usage and optimizing ways of power usage， sothat it can lower electricity consumption as well as power demand. Along with the continuouseconomic development and living standards，the problem of power demand overwhelmingpower supply，in particular the imbalanced power，is becoming more and more urgent. Thisproblem is especially obvious in Guangdong，the more economically developed region. Onthe other hand，the national government proposes the policy of establishing an energyeconomic society. Therefore，Guangdong，as one of the major power consumption provinces，needs to increase its power usage efficiency. Based upon the overarching goal of sustainabledevelopment of power industry and optimized employment of societal system resourceusage， the research and development of power demand side management needs to be highlyemphasized，so as to increase its applications and extensions in practical power industry.This paper illustrates the theory of power demand side management，integrate nationaland international research on power demand side management with the practical situation ofnational power system，and discuss the economic condition as well as the conflict betweenpower development and demand in Kaiping, Guangdong province. We demonstrate it isnecessary to practice power demand side management in this region. Meanwhile，we analyzecarefully on the DSM policy in this region，using efficiency evaluation model to access theeffects of this policy in different aspects. The evaluation shows these DSM proceduresproduce great economic and societal benefits. We also propose certain DSM procedures，andevaluate the accessible procedures for this particular region， and suggest the necessary waysto practice these procedures. Our research can also provide significance insight into theapplications of demand side management of the county level power companies.
