Information visualization techniques can make use of software tools to describe thewhole process to show the evolution of the field of academic knowledge and the knowledgestructure evolution. It has become an important scientific field of bibliometrics emergingresearch on the mass of data to draw scientific knowledge map. The Citespace software is thestructure analysis tools based on the basic theories of information visualization, clusteringalgorithms, citation analysis developed by the JAVA computer language which is designatedfor the field of professional disciplines of knowledge evolution and knowledge structure. This study by drawing on previous research results, through the practical application ofthe visualization software. Analysis the articles on urban planning which are searched anddownloaded using the WOS research searching engine. The knowledge structure of the coretheory of urban planning is concluded and the context of urban planning disciplines areinitially revealed. The main body of this paper consists of five parts:The first chapter is the introduction part of the thesis, explained the background to thestudy, significance, and domestic and foreign research progress. It is also included theproposed methods, techniques and the research roadmap. And the relevant theories areintroduced. The second chapter introduces the basic theory of this paper, methods. As the foundationand theoretical basis.Chapter Ⅲ, Visual analysis of the structure of the core theoretical knowledge of urbanplanningChapter Ⅳ, the specific interpretation of the evolution of core theories in urban planning.Chapter Ⅴ, Research Conclusions and Outlook are put forward.
