Tension clip is the key part which is used for footing rail on the reinforce concrete. When the geometric parameters of the tension clip does not measure up, the tension clip is liable to be broken down and railway become unfixed. Therefore, it is very important to guarantee the quality of the tension clip for railway’s transportation. So far the geometric parameters of the tension clip in the world is measured in common by the implements such as check flat, vernier caliper, stuff ruler and so on. The method is inefficient and quite tiring and leads to human error.This thesis is talking about how to make use of MCU to develop a measuring system, basing on numerical structure of the last instrument, and to test the clip demarcate the experiment by positive measuring method and relative measuring method. The whole system is designed by modular concept from bottom to top. The hardware system use C8051F020MCU of Cygnal company as the nucleus, and develop the hardware circuit by PROTEL2004. The system measure6kinds of geometric parameters by photoelectric sensors, such as the middle left diameter. Meanwhile, it measure7kinds of parameters by phototubes. The system control the measuring process and instrument by3×4keyboard, and show the running state and results by LCD. The mechanical structure is used as a plate to fix modular equipments.The software design of the system use the modular design the same as hardware, programming by assemble language. During the designing period, the system which is connected with PC by JTAG connector, debug the software system and modular equipments using the design environment of Silabs. After the design is completed, the system download the program to ROM of C8051F020MCU, and control the whole measuring process by MCU.
