In recent years, various single point mooring systems have been widely used all over the world with great economic benefits achieved, making single point mooring system design into a considerable concern.This paper aims to analyze single point mooring system force motion response to synclastic joint action of wind, wave and current.First, this paper simplifies the complex single point mooring system to generate its mechanical model and then deduces its equation of motion according to Lagrange equation.Second, numerical method is used to calculate single point mooring system movement and stress conditions under three loads of wind, wave and current. Then, the paper discusses and analyzes mooring tanker damping, added mass, second-order stationary drift force as well as second-order oscillating drift force in low frequency motion.Finally, the paper analyzes how single point mooring system parameters e.g. mooring rope material, wave parameter, etc. affect SPM system movement and stress before and reaching its conclusions.Single point mooring system is a complex physical system, and its motion response to environmental load is a complicated mechanical problem. In view of single point mooring system study and design, some advanced countries have already enjoyed considerable experience and a complete set of methods while China is a bit lagged behind in this regard. Therefore, it is of practical significance to carry out researches on dynamic response of single point mooring system.
