Mobile cranes including truck cranes, tire cranes, crawler cranes, all terrain cranes and truck-mounted cranes, is widely used in the day-to-day production and plays an important role, but as a special device, the safety of mobile cranes become the focus of people. With the development of society and the improvement of people’s living standard, high requirements about the safety of mobile cranes have been put forward and making reasonable safety testing and evaluation becomes the common concern of the government, enterprises and academics. This paper aims to build a mobile crane safety evaluation system, which is able to make a more objective evaluation of the safety performance of mobile cranes, and the evaluation results are intuitive visible.The article establishes a more comprehensive mobile crane safety indicator system by referring to "crane type test procedures" and "Mobile Cranes Type Test Rule". For above indicators are qualitative indicators, language representation class result, besides other in order to consider each indicator impacting on the final results of the evaluation reasonably, analytic hierarchy process is used to determine the weight coefficients of different levels. At the same time, in order to make the evaluation results intuitive visible, fuzzy theory has been used. The test results for each indicator set to "better","good","general","somewhat less","poor"5standard degree and then are turned into the corresponding triangular fuzzy numbers. Though a series of transformations to obtain the optimal membership, eventually combined with the weights of different levels, the final assessment results can be worked out.Finally, taking50t series truck crane as an example, the safety evaluation of different types cranes is carried on according to the evaluation steps, and then the final assessment result can be concluded. The results show that the evaluation method in this paper completes crane safety evaluation more effectively demonstrates the pros and cons of the various models of crane safety performance intuitively, and provides a good theoretical basis for the user to select the crane.
