In the development of national economy and urbanization process, the pressureof road traffic suffers gradually. In order to relieve this pressure, Cooperative VehicleInfrastructure System (CVIS) was invented. CVIS combines the vehicle-mountedsystem, roadside system and communication system. It arouses widely attention ofscholars and the government because its adaptivity and optimization function ofdifferent traffic environment.Car-following suggestion system which is mainly responsible for helping driverskeep a stable distance and suitable speed is an important part of the longitudinalcontrol unit in CVIS. It will bring a more precise control of driver’s car-followingbehavior by the vehicle-to-vehicle information connection and will also bring someconflicts between driver’s perception and system suggestion. So it has importantsignificance to study and design the car-following suggestion system by analyzingsystem’s effect to driver’s car-following behavior.First of all, this paper analyzed CVIS and car-following model. Then based onthis analysis and famous Wiedenmann92model, it established the car-followingsuggestion system. This system utilizes different colors as indicators to makesuggestions. The colors of indicators changes corresponding to the change of vehicle’sspeed, the relative speed and distance between front car and following car.By the analysis of car-following suggestion system, this paper used fuzzyperception information fusion theory to simulate the decision-making process whenthere are some differences between driver’s perception and system suggestion. Itused information optimization degree to fuse different kinds of factors such asdistance and speed between front car and following car, the safety time allowanceand system suggestion and established the driver’s information fusion anddecision-making model with system suggestion.Then, this paper optimized expression of the driving behavior model inWiedenmann92model. It summarized driving behavior in different conditions anddivided this behavior into four basic behaviors such as free driving behavior andstable following behavior. The possible behaviors which will be conducted whendriver’s perception is the same as or different from system suggestions are studied inthis paper. It combined the driving behavior mode and driver’s information fusion and decision-making model with system suggestion and established the driver’scar-following behavior model with car-following suggestion.Finally, this paper used MATLAB simulation software to program and tosimulate the driver’s car-following behavior model with and without car-followingsuggestions. It also designed some simulation experiments in order to compare andanalyze car-following suggestion system’s effect to driver’s car-following behavior.The results of simulations show that the car-following suggestion system willcontribute to a more stable and more precise driving behavior. It will also improvestabilization and safety of driving behavior and is conducive to safety traffic.
